Borrow and Browse by QR Code: Mobile Catalog Access Explained

By MyOPAC Team ยท June 18, 2026

Every shelf, flyer, or reading list can now carry a QR code that takes patrons straight to a book's catalog page on their phone.

Instead of searching by title or author, a patron walking past a shelf display can simply scan the code and instantly see availability, request a hold, or add the title to their reading list โ€” no typing needed.

Librarians can generate these codes for any title, new arrivals shelf, or reading list, making it easy to bridge the physical shelf and the digital catalog.

Combined with mobile circulation and voice search, this is another step toward a library experience that works entirely from a patron's own phone.
